Hello, I’m Rebecca. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Optometry from Cardiff University in June 2004. I worked for a year as a Pre-registration Optometrist in Oxford then once I became fully qualified in July 2005 I moved back to my home in Staffordshire.
I worked in opticians stores until 2015 when I became a domiciliary optician, testing people’s eyes at their home or care home. It was in this role that I found my passion.
Doing an eye test in someone’s own home allows me to tailor the prescription and advice to their exact needs. Improving someone’s vision often isn’t as simple as just changing their spectacles. Seeing the environment that you live in allows me to advise you on other aspects that affect vision such as lighting, magnification and working distances.
I set up See to it Opticians in 2021 so that I can offer a thorough eye test at home and to offer solutions to problems that people have with their vision. I pride myself on taking time to explain everything thoroughly such as what I am doing at each part of the eye test and explaining eye health problems. I always leave written information as well so people can refer back to it in their own time.
I have all the modern equipment just in a portable format. I can check the health of the front and back of your eyes with my slit-lamp and ophthalmoscope, measure the pressure inside your eyes with my tonometer (the one that puffs air into your eye), measure your visual fields (peripheral vision) and check your spectacle prescription with my electronic letter chart and trial lens kit.
I carry a large range of spectacle frames to choose from, including designer brands, a range of lighting solutions, low vision aids, treatments for problems such as dry eye and products to keep your spectacles clean. I also offer an after-care service, I can come back if you require any adjustments or repairs to your glasses.
If you are eligible for an NHS funded eye test and you are unable to get to an Opticians store unaccompanied because of a physical or mental illness or disability there will be no charge to yourself for your eye test to be done at home.
If you don't qualify for NHS funded eye test you can still have a test done at home for £60 (discounts apply if more than one person is being tested at the same time and address, please call for more information).
I cover Staffordshire, Shropshire and most of the West Midlands.
Please contact me for more information, currently there is only me working in the business so I cannot answer the phone if I am with a patient. I will however, call you back as soon as I can so make sure to leave me a voicemail. Alternatively, you can use the contact form on this website, send me an email or message me through Facebook messenger or WhatsApp.
I look forward to coming to meet you and test your eyes.
Rebecca
